Long time no see!! Buried over head in school and some other special announcement!
I'M STUDYING ABROAD IN THE SPRING!! From January 5-May 1, I'll be London, England.
Anyways this week's name of the week is...
Gender: Girl
Meaning: new
Origin: Latin
Rank: 529
Other names that go with the name: Lilith, Dahlia, Gaia,Vance, Xander, and Jack
My opinion: A lesser known nature name. Nova from the word supernova. It could also be considered a place name... NOVA Scotia. Nova is a very cute alternative to Noa if you don't like Noa. You can also make a cute twin set of Nova and Avon!
Other names that go with the name: Ava, Natalie, Lily, Caleb, Shane, and Isaac
Famous people named Jared: Jared Leto (actor and lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars), Jared Padalecki (actor, Supernatural), Jared S. Gilmore (actor, Once Upon a Time)
My opinion: I literally LOOOVE this name. It truly needs to come back. With the nicknames Jay and Red (which I think is a cool way to honor a Robert since Red is an nn for Robert) it's so refreshing. Yes, I know it's in the top 500 but it really isn't that popular.
In celebration of my mom's birthday today, I'll talk about the names of characters from SVU. I'll only talk about the originals not the new people (can't stand them).
Elliot
I really hate the name Elliot on either gender but looking at Elliot Stabler (or Christopher Meloni in general) just makes me love it. I MEAN LOOK AT HIM.... DROOL!
Olivia
Mariska Hargitay (muh-rish-kuh) plays Det. Olivia Benson and was Elliot's partner throughout the show until his departure. I really don't like the name Olivia but the squad mainly calls her by her nickname "Liv" which I adore as a full name.
Odafin "Fin"
A super unique way to use Fin as a nickname. Fin Tutuola is easily one of my all time favorite characters on the show. Ice-T is a fantastic actor and rapper. Because of this show, I'm liking this name a lot.
John
Plain ol' John. Not John Munch. Richard Belzer's excellent portrayal as the conspiracy theorist and witty Detective. I like John's variant, Jack, and the French form Jean (zhawn) but John is just plain IMO.
Donald
Gahh Dann Florek is amazing. Captain Donald Cragen has been with the show since the beginning, but eventually left the show. I do prefer Ronald but Donald is an awesome pet name.
Melinda
Melinda is such a mystical name and I love it. Tamara Tunie plays the very professional Medical Examiner Melinda Warner and never bended the rules. With the nickname Mel or Ellie it's perfection.
George
BD Wong is one of my favorite small screen actors and is very good at playing doctors (he's played 2 on the small screen and 3 on the big screen). George is one of the few names I despise. I really like the feminine forms Georgiana and Georgianna but George is old-man-y. Dr. George Huang (hwawng), like Warner, rarely bended the rules and when he did, it was for the good of humanity.
Casey
Casey Novak was the original Assistant District Attorney on the showed but was followed shortly by Alexandra Cabot. As you can tell, I'm not a huge fan of the name Casey but I'm doing this for my mommy. Casey is an alright name and I'll leave it at that. ADA Casey Novak is played by Diane Neal.
Alexandra
Last but not least is the most recent ADA, Alexandra Cabot played by chef Bobby Flay's wife, Stephanie March. I can't decide who I like more as an ADA but Alexandra > Casey name wise.
Other names that go with the name: Freya/Freja, Rose, Eliana, Brody, Stefan (steff-in), Owen
My opinion: Liv Tyler is one of the main reasons I love this name. I mean. Look at her!! SHE'S GORGEOUS! It's such a great alternative to the always popular Olivia. Liv is a popular nickname for Olivia so my question is... why isn't it as popular as Olivia?
It's Gabby and today's game will be quite easy but, maybe, challenging. Use this dice to determine 6 of your children's genders. Evens are girls. Odd are boys. Their initials are AAA (first, 1st middle, 2nd middle). At least one name has to be unisex.
My results:
1. Alaric Avery Anderson
2. Aurora Avalon Adrian
3. Aspen Alora Antoinette
4. Ashley Archer Aurelian
5. Aoife Andromeda Angel
6. Ashton Amadeus Antonin
What names did you end up with?
As the title says... these are my favorite place names A-Z. They'll be blatantly obvious place names so you won't have to google "What the fudge brownie is Belchertown?" (Yes that's a real place in me and Ali's home state)
Avalon/Aspen Brooklyn/Boston Caledonia/Carlisle Dakota/Dublin Eden/Everest Florence/Firenze Giverny/Galaxy (technically not a place name but you get my drift) Havana/Harvard Ireland/Indio Java/Jefferson K/Kingston Louisiana/Lexington Melrose/Monroe N/Neptune Olympia/Oxford Paris/Princeton Quincy Roma/Rowe Sahara/Scotland Tundra (not technically a place name but you get my drift)/Trenton Vienna/ Winona/Wellesley York
No Z names
Meaning: the flower. Part of the Daisy family. Comes from the Greek words khrusos and anthemon, "gold flower." Symbolizes loyalty and friendship
Origin: English
Rank: Not in the top 1000
Other names that go with the name: Ella, Valentina, Theadora, Carlisle, Mordecai, and Bennett
My opinion: Super GP name of mine! I love the looks of these flowers and, for some reason, the "-mum" ending is beautiful to me. With the nicknames Chris/Chrissy, Sandy, and Mum, it has an old fashioned feel that seems refreshing
