St. Patrick's Day Names

Happy (early) St. Patrick's Day! I had been waiting for St. Patrick's Day, so I could do a post on baby names that correspond to St. Patrick's Day (and Ireland, too!). I was going to do names related to St. Patrick's Day food, but I didn't think Corned Beef or Soda Bread made very good names. ;) Let's get started, shall we?! :)

Names related to St. Patrick's Day...
Patrick: A Latin name that means "noble, patrician"
Deacon: A Greek name that means "messenger, servant". St. Patrick's father was a deacon
Maewyn: There isn't a whole lot of information on this name. It is believed that it is either English or Welsh in origin. This was St. Patrick's birth name. It's originally a boy's name, but with this spelling it could work for a girl. You also have the option of Mae as a nickname!

Riona: It's an Irish name that means "saint".
Trinity: A Latin name that means "triad". It is said that St. Patrick used the 3-leaf Shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish people.
Clover: A nature name. It might be a little too "GP", but it's pretty cute, huh?!
Irelynn: A creative spelling of Ireland.
Ireland: A place name. You could still do Ireland with the original spelling. This is a really cute place name!

Color me green....
Emerald: A Persian gem name.
Ivy: A plant name.
Blue: A color name. The color blue was originally associated with the St. Patrick's Day holiday
Greene: A color name. Think Gray, Rose, Indigo, etc.... Maybe it's best as a middle name.
Greenlee: An English name that means "from the green field". If you're not a fan of Greene, try Greenlee! So cute and I think it would age pretty well.
Jade: An English jewel name.
Olive: A name of English from Latin origin meaning "olive tree".
Sage: A Latin name meaning "wise, healthy". A great unisex name!

Or go green....
Forest: A French occupational name meaning "woodsman or woods".
Leaf: A nature name. Leif is also an option!
Fern: A nature name; a tree name.
Willow: An English name that means "willow tree".
Meadow: A nature name.
Field: A nature name. (I'm sure y'all called that one.)
Cedar: An English name that means "cedar tree".

Let's go to Ireland!... 
Dublin: An Irish place name. It's the capitol of Ireland and the most populated Irish city!
Derry: An Irish place name. Also, a diminutive of Derek and Dermot.
Kilkenny: An Irish place name. I think it's a great name for either sex! Very unique and uncommon.
Killarney: Another Irish place name.
Tipperary: Another Irish place name...

Luck o' the Irish
Chance: An English name that means "chancellor".
Zelda: German and Yiddish. It means "luck". This could be a great choice for a video game enthusiast!
Felicia: A Latin name that means "lucky".
Felix: A Latin name that means "happy, fortunate".

You could use any Irish name in origin! There are a lot of Irish names out there, like....

Not My Style

Hey ladies! I hope you are all having a great week, whether you are on spring break (like me) or if your still in school or working.

I'll be honest I am so not prepared for this post. I lost track of the days and haven't brainstormed any ideas. But a random thought just popped in my head. I've been liking names lately that are totally not my style at all.

To refresh your memories on my name style, here are my top 5 for each gender:

Mila Greer, Capri Alexa, Willow Abigail, Reese Olivia & Aubrey Sage.

Cash Roman, Sawyer Cade, Camden Jack, Cade Levi & Holden Eli.

I still love, love, love all of those names but I've recently been loving some names that are not the style of the above names.

Some girl names I've been liking are:

Olive, Willa, Penelope, Orla & Lola.

Some boy names I've been liking are:

Elias, Levi, Miles & Nathan.

I use to HATE all of those names. Like I couldn't stand them. But now I am really starting to like them. What do you think of them?

Honestly and New Link Up

There are some people that get way into baby names!  They like to pick names based on meanings and know all the meanings behind names.  There are some people who are way into baby names.  And honestly, I am more the type to enjoy baby names and plan all my future kids names.  For me, that is my favorite thing about baby names.  On our blog here, we have a variety of different postings.  Each one of us give something to this blog.  And for some of us, it's easier to come up with name posts then others.  Every week I sit here and think what I should write about.  I honestly would much rather talk about celebrities or bloggers and talk about their names then to talk about a certain type of names, that is just my blogger style.  So there is the HONESTY part of this post.

Now, I always see fun link ups and I want to try it out on the blog!  Each week, you can come here and link up about a certain baby name topic.  For example, how did you name your kids, what are your favorite names, why do you like names, what is your favorite part about names, ect!

just a little update :)

In my first post about my top names I talked about how frequently my favorite names changed. As promised, there has been some change in my top names. The most significant would be that I extended from a top three to a top 5, but I also changed a name in boy’s top three. So here are the changes I’ve made my names lists.

Boys

            On my boys list, I changed my third combo from Jacob Alty to Paxton Alty. I also added

Jacob Sullivan and Connor Benjamin.

Paxton Alty – Paxton is an English surname name derived from a place name. It is not in the Canadian top 100. I don’t know where I first heard this time, but fell in love with it from hearing “Pax” said in class. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a politics student. The word Pax means peace and I think it’s a great nickname

Jacob Sullivan – Jacob used to be on my list as a first for Alty, but when I fell in love with Paxton, I put Jacob with Sullivan. Sullivan is an Irish surname meaning little dark eye. Sullivan is my last name and I think it’d be a cool way to honor my family, especially as I intend on changing my name if I get married.

Connor Benjamin – Connor is an Irish name that means dog/wolf lover and is ranked at 29 in Canada. Connor was one of my first favorite names, but I fell out of love with it for a while when I had Carson on my list. Recently, I’ve been loving it more and more. Benjamin is a family name for me. Benjamin is a Hebrew name meaning son of the right hand. It’s ranked 14^th in Canada.

Girls

            I added two combos to my girls list, Ivy Elizabeth and Gemma Alison.

Ivy Elizabeth – Ivy is an English word name that does not rank on the Canadian top 100. Ivy is super similar to a lot of my other favorites, like Ruby and Lily, only a little spunkier in my opinion. Elizabeth is a Hebrew name meaning God is abundance and ranks 35^th in Canada. Elizabeth is on my list to honor my mother, Bessie.

Gemma Alison – Gemma is an Italian pet name meaning precious jewel that does not rank in the Canadian top 100. I think Gemma is super pretty and unique without being out there. Alison is a diminutive of Alice and is on my list to honor my friend Alyssa.

So that leaves my list as boys- Kieran Douglas, Hunter Isaac, Paxton Alty, Jacob Sullivan and Connor Benjamin. girls - Arden Claire, Piper Ruth, Ruby Emeline, Ivy Elizabeth and Gemma Arden. Thoughts? Any updates on your lists lately?

Maci & Ryan have a son who is named Bentley Cadence Edwards. I love his name. What do you think of it?

 

Farrah & Derek (sadly he passed away) have a beautiful daughter named Sophia Laurent Abraham.

 

Amber & Gary have a daughter named Leah Leanne Shirley. I hate that they chose 2 'Lea' names for her. Leah is cute though.

 

Ebony & Josh have a baby girl named Jocelyn Jade Rendon.Since they appeared on 16 & Pregnant they have had a 2nd daughter named Jayda Jewel Rendon.They clearly like 'J' names.

 

Whitney & Weston have a little boy named Weston Owen Gosa JR.

 

Catelynn & Tyler had a baby girl named Carolyn Elizabeth Davis. They gave her up for adoption.

Brooke & Cody have a son named Brody Ryan Tarrant.Since the show Brooke & Cody now have a daughter named Rylee Jean Tarrant.

 

Felicia & Alex have a daughter named Genesis Alexa Gutierrez. I would personally never use this name but I do think its super cute.

 

Emily & Daniel have a baby boy named Liam Allen Peterson.

 

Markai & James have a baby girl named Za'Karia Sanari Worsham. Lol.

 

Aubrey & Brandon have a baby boy named Austin Carter Akerill.

 

Christinna & Isiah have a baby girl named Destiny Briana Robinson.

 

Kayla & J.R have a baby boy named Rylan Jayce Davis. This was one of my favourite episodes! I love his name.

Danielle & Jamie have a son named Jamie Paul Alderman JR. Since the show, Danielle is currently pregnant with a baby girl who she plans on naming Jayleigh Danielle Alderman.
