Guest Blogger: Samantha

Happy Friday!!  Enjoy today's blog post from Samantha!
----

Hello!! I'm Samantha:) (aka @Winterrrose on formspring) I am also an awesome Nebraskan myself and I am going to blog about music names, some of them are unisex but I prefer them on a particular gender:)))) I have played Viola FOREVER IT FEELS LIKE:) So let's get going!:)

Girls::

-Harper: I've always thought of Harper as a girls name, because when I think of a Harp Player for some reason I think of a girl, so Harper has always been a girl name for me, even though it can be a boys name, I just find a little bit more feminine. This name is popular, but now that David and Victoria Beckham's daughter is named Harper, I think it is just going to get more and more popular:) I just love the way it sounds and looks, and as someone who is involved in music I can see myself having a Harper because of it being musical.

Favorite Combo for Harper:: Harper Faith

-Etude: Etude is SOOO guilty pleasure for me! I think that it so adorable and cute, and works well for a girl. Maybe it is more usable for a middle name, but personally it is a little too GP for me. I personally find Etudes to be difficult sometimes to play, but I love it as a name!

Favorite Combo for Etude::
 I don't have one:(

-Aria: Solo Melody:)))) One of my all time favorites, it used to be the top of my list (until Gemma and Lilah came along:) I think Aria is so pretty and gorgeous, and cute. Totally can see this name aging well:)

Favorite Combo for Aria::
 Aria Katherine (or Catherine:)

-Symphony: MY ALL TIME FAVORITE GP NAME! I used to always say I would have a daughter Symphony Grey (I was in like 8th grade) Symphony is so gorgeous and I adore Symphonies anyway, so it seemed fitting...Symphony is one of those names I feel as if it is too grand for a little girl, I think whenever I have a daughter she will have Symphony somewhere in a room like some people have Live.Laugh.Love in their house.

Favorite Combo for Symphony:: Symphony Grey

-Harmony: Harmony I feel as if is more usable than Symphony for a name...Also on Glee one of the Glee Project season 1 finalist, Lindsay Pierce's character was named Harmony on Glee and personally loved her Rachel-esque character...And thought it was extremely adorable. I love it and think it so feminine and I like it more than Melody personally.

Favorite Combo for Harmony:: Harmony Kate

-Minuet: Another favorite name of mine...If I could use it, I totally would, Minuet sounds so beautiful and gorgeous and girly!!! Can't you picture a cute little theatre major named Minuet? It is a little GP, but I love it so much that maybe one day I will feel a little more adventurous and name a daughter Minuet.

Favorite Combo for Minuet::
 Minuet Rose

-Piper:
 Another name like Harper that I adore!!!! But I personally love it because of Charmed, I think Holly Marie Combs' character was fantastic and totally made me love the names Phoebe, Piper, Paige, and Prue by itself (I dislike Prudence for some reason) a lot...

Favorite Combo for Piper:: Piper Josephine

-Calliope: Adore this name!!! It is Greek and it means "Beautiful Voiced" I feel like it is so girly and adorable:) It also reminds me of Grey's Anatomy...I love the nickname Callie because it just feels so feminine and precious:)

Favorite Combo for Calliope:: Calliope Belle.

Final girls name::

-Rhapsody: Yes, Rhapsody...It is SOOO GP it isn't even funny, however I adore it and think it is so precious and girly!!! And you could call her Rae or something...I feel like If someone was super adventurous they could name their daughter Rhapsody.

Favorite Combo for Rhapsody:: None:(

Now for the boys, there aren't as many as the girls, but there are some...

Alto: Alto is in reference to Alto Clef which is the clef that Viola players play in or in reference to an Alto Saxophone. I think Alto is super cool and not like Jagger or whatever, works well for a boy and I feel like Alto as a name that no other name sounds like...

Favorite Combo for Alto::
None:(

Cello: An extremely interesting name, I feel it is WAY too guilty pleasure for me, but I really do love Cello and think it is really cool for a boy. It just sounds like it rocks and I can picture a little boy being named Cello:)

Favorite Combo for Cello:: None:(

Lyric: Lyric for a boy is a GP name because of Ashley Parker Angel's son Lyric. I remember hearing it and I thought his name is so cool! Lyric sounds awesome on both a boy and a girl, but for this I put it as boy, because there aren't that many boys music names I like.

Favorite Combo for Lyric:: Lyric Anthony.

And final boys name:)

Tempo: It sounds quite random, like who would name their child Tempo, but honestly, I think it is kind of adorable. I can picture a little man named Tempo or having the middle name Tempo because it is so interesting. It just sounds cool, Tempo. I would assume the little man would be a whole ball of energy if his name was Tempo.

Favorite Combo for Tempo:: None.

So what are YOUR favorite music names or combos from this list? These are honestly just are my favorite ones, there are plenty more!!--

"My" Sweet Babies ♥

Hey y'all :) I hope your week is going GREAT so far! This week I am going to do a post on the names of the kids I have babysat, still babysit and the names of the kids I am nannying for right now! I'll some pictures of the kiddo's so you can put a face to the names *except for the kids I nanny now, I don't have permission to use their pictures*.

Sibling Set #1: Alexander Eric, Andrew James & Abigail Rose. These kiddo's are so special to me. I love them like my own and they are basically my little brothers and sister! I think Alexander is such a handsome name and it suits him so well! He mostly goes by Alex though. Andrew, Andrew, Andrew - my sweet boy! Andrew and I have had such a strong bond since he was born, he calls me his "GG" *I have no idea where it came from*. I didn't like the name Andrew until he was born and now I love it. He goes by Drew! Ahh my princess Abigail. Alex & Andrew just kind of happened to both start with an A and it totally wasn't on purpose, so when their Mom found out she was pregnant again, they just decided to use another A name so she wasn't the odd one out. They were deciding between Emma Rose & Abigail Rose and I am so happy they picked Abigail because it is just gorgeous and so is she!

Alex, Abby & Drew

Sibling Set #2: Breslyn Rae & Ella Frances Olive. Ahh these girls I just adore! They are fashionista's just like me. We have sooo much fun when we are together! LOVE them ♥ I think Breslyn is such a cute name but I may be bias. When they were naming her they wanted a name that she wasn't going to be the 3rd one in her class and they wanted it to be Irish. They couldn't find a name that they liked until one day their Mom was watching *My Sisters Keeper* and one of the actresses names is Abigail Breslin. They thought about Abigail but thought it was to popular. They loved Breslin and just changed the spelling! Rae is honoring. Then when they found out they were having Ella, they wanted something a little more common because its always *Awh, whats her name? - Breslyn .. What is it? - Breslyn .. Oh thats a unique name!*. They loved Ella and decided to use it. Frances & Olive are both honoring.

Breslyn & Ella ♥

Sibling Set #3: Samantha Michelle & Paige Mai. TWINS! My favourite twins, I might add! Literally since the day these girls were until they were 4 years old I saw them EVERYDAY! I helped with feedings, diapers, bath, etc when they were babies and then I would just play with them as they got older. Anyways their names: Are cute! Not my style but they are cute and they totally suit these angels!

Samantha & Paige

Sibling Set #4: Madison Alaine Margaret & Ella Lucy Muriel. These are the little girls I Nanny right now! They are so precious. I just LOVE this family. I'm not sure how they chose Madison & Ella's names but I LOVE them! Such adorable names. All middle names are honoring! And I do know that if Madison was a boy she would have been Benjamin and if Ella was a boy she would have been Owen. I don't have a picture of them but those are their names :)

SO what you guys think of their names? Your favourites? Least favourites? Would you use any of these names? Let me know!

XO
Jaylyn

Guest Blogger: Raya

Welcome Raya as our guest blogger today! Sorry it is getting posted so late, we've been busy.

I wasn't going to talk about my names, but I had to slightly to explain my
thinking. I hope it doesn't seem like I am repeating my last post.

Raya

One Middle Name or Two? Which is Right?

Your middle name is Marie. Your mother’s middle name is Marie. Your
grandmother’s middle name is Marie. It is expected of you to use the middle
name Marie for your first-born daughter. Problem? You don’t like the name
Marie. You find it common or “filler.” Solution: two middle names.

For many years, foreign royals, such as the British royal family have been
using two and three middle names. It is such that Princess Margaret having
only one middle name is very uncommon. Her name is Margaret Rose. However,
her sister, Queen Elizabeth II has two middle names. Her full name is
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary. Every member of the royal family after Queen
Elizabeth and Princess Margaret has two or three middle names. It has
become common place for royals.

It is not uncommon anymore for “regular” people to have two middles names.
Some have them because of confirmation names and some are given two middle
names at birth. Some also, have two first names and one middle name, but
that is not what this post is about. It is about whether having one or two
middle names is right or wrong.

Middles names are often used to honor someone, but as I said before, what
if you do not like the name you are expected to use. My middle name is
Lorene. I can honestly tell you that I hate my middle name. I love what it
represents, but I hate the name. The name I was planning on using for my
first daughter was Gina Lorene, but I didn’t like the rhyming quality that
it had so I stuck Alessandra in. It became Gina Alessandra Lorene. However,
the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the name was just too
long. So I dropped Alessandra, changed Gina to Giuliana (Julianna was a
great love of mine that I thought I could never use) with the nickname
option of Gina and kept Lorene. Now, my top name is Giuliana “Gina” Lorene
and I couldn’t be happier.

But during this process, I figured out something. There is no wrong way or
right way when it comes to names. It is just what you love. Two middles are
great for honoring someone and still getting to use a combo that you love.
You won’t damage your child for life by giving them two middles, although
you do want to make sure the name has great flow. If your child doesn’t
like it, they can always drop it later in life. Same applies for one
middle. I am sure there are plenty of people who were given an embarrassing
middle name that opted to have no middle name at all.

In conclusion, two middles or one middle, it doesn’t matter. The only thing
that matters is that you give your child a name you love because a great
name is the best thing you can ever give them. I thank my mom every day for
not naming me Tiffany.

My apologies to Tiffanies of the world.
