Hi everyone! Its Jaylyn :) I use to be a blogger on here to but I got busy with my new job and had to take a break from it! Jamie asked me to do a guest post today, so here I am! I hope everyone has been doing well and enjoying the blog posts from the rest of the wonderful girls on here.
Since it has been a while since I blogged on here, I thought I would give you a little update on some of my favorite names. I kind of have 2 different lists of baby names because one side of me likes girly, traditional names and the other side of me likes trendy, unisex names. So here they are :)
Girl List #1
-Mila Genevieve
-Stella Gray
-Isla Maeve
-Ella Caroline
-Ava Elizabeth
-Willow Abigail
Girl List #2
-Sloane Genevieve
-Harper Eloise
-Lennon Violet
-Miller Abigail
-Emersyn Paige
-Reese Alexa
So as you can see they are quite different. List #1 has girly names and almost all of them end in the letter 'A'. Where as list #2 are all names that are more commonly used on boys. What are your favourite names from both lists?
Now for boys names. I really haven't been into any of my boys names as of late. I think its because I really only see myself having girls but here are some names that I still like.
Boy List #1
-Sawyer Cade
-Smith Easton
-Rowan Elliott
-Lincoln Cade
-Logan Asher
Boy List #2
-Mason Cash
-Camden Jack
-Brighton Marcus
-Kacen James
-Ayden Levi
I did 2 lists for boys to because I usually only have a top 5 names at a time and those are the top 5's that I go between the most. What are your favorite names from those lists?
Thanks for stopping by today to read my guests post! And thanks to all the bloggers on The Name Nook for letting me guest post :) You never know, maybe I will be back sooner rather than later......

Names of '95
Happy American Thanksgiving Everyone! Somehow I have gotten
both of the fall holidays to blog on, but today I’m not going to do a
Thanksgiving theme list. I know what you are all thinking which is Whaaaaaa? But you know all the
Thanksgiving theme name lists have been done to death, and you all could Google
some nice Thanksgiving names if that’s what you want. Instead I’m going to
relate this blog to what I think should be considered a national holiday coming
up on Saturday the 30th: My Birthday. On Saturday I’ll be a legal
adult, and I am so excited to celebrate. So to commemorate my birthday I
thought I would talk about the names that were popular the year I was born. And
apparently, 1995 was the year before the dominants’ (Emily and Jacob) took
over, I wonder what made those get to the top in 1996 and stay there for so
long…..questions, questions. Now one with the lists starting with the ladies!
Jessica
Rank in 1995: 1
Rank in 2012: 138
Meaning: wealthy
Origin: Hebrew
My Thoughts: I used to want Jessica to be my name SO
badly! I have no idea why, lol, I think I might have just loved the nickname
Jess. Jessica might have been the number 1 name in the year I was born, but
there is only 1 in my grade, and I only know 4 in total.
Ashley
Rank in 1995: 2
Rank in 2012: 50
Meaning: dweller near the ash tree meadow
Origin: English
My Thoughts: I actually kind of like the name Ashley. I
just read a book with the main character named Ashley, and I really loved her
character so now I’m liking the name Ashley. The nickname ‘Ash’ is cute too J
Emily
Rank in 1995: 3
Rank in 2012: 6
Meaning: rival
Origin: English
My Thoughts: I adore the name Emily! It’s such a cute,
sweet, and feminine name. I don’t care that Emily is so common, it’s just
beautiful. Emily has a certain sophistication to it, and I could really picture
Emily on any woman, of any age!
Samantha
Rank in 1995: 4
Rank in 2012: 26
Meaning: told by God
Origin: Hebrew
My Thoughts: I go back and forth on whether I like the
name Samantha or not. I really like the nickname Sam, but something about
Samantha is a little bit off.
Sarah
Rank in 1995: 5
Rank in 2012: 43
Meaning: princess
Origin: Hebrew
My Thoughts: Sarah is another adorable name. I think it’s
super sweet and cute. I could see Sarah on someone of any age or race.
Michael
Rank in 1995: 1
Rank in 2012: 8
Meaning: who is like God?
Origin: Hebrew
My Thoughts: Michael is so very
common, it takes away some of the handsomeness for me. I struggle to see the
name Michael on a little boy, even though I know that it’s still popular.
Matthew
Rank in 1995: 2
Rank in 2012: 12
Meaning: gift of God
Origin: Hebrew
My Thoughts: I love the name
Matthew. I know I just said that Michael was common, and so is Matthew, but
there is something different about Matthew. It has never been the number one
name and is now out of the top ten. The nickname Matt is also pretty cute!
Christopher
Rank in 1995: 3
Rank in 2012: 23
Meaning: bearer of Christ
Origin: Greek
My Thoughts: I hate the name
Christopher. I cannot stand it, really. To me, there is nothing appealing about
it. I do love the name Christian though, which is strange.
Jacob
Rank in 1995: 4
Rank in 2012: 1
Meaning: Supplanter
Origin: Hebrew
My Thoughts: I love the name Jacob
too. I just keep contradicting myself about the commonness of Michael taking
away some of the handsomeness; maybe it’s just Michael. I think Jacob is so
absolutely adorable, and I love the nickname Jake.
Joshua
Rank in 1995: 5
Rank in 2012: 17
Meaning: the Lord is my salvation
Origin: Hebrew
My Thoughts: Joshua is just an eh
name to me. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it, it’s just kind of there. It’s not
a bad name or anything, it just does nothing for me.
So the name
that has dropped the farthest is Jessica, who is the only one out of the top
50. Most of the boys names are still hanging on in the top 20, though Joshua
seems to be fading fast. Most of the names seem to be Hebrew in origin, and
really, right now comparing to the 2012 statistics, not that much has changed
since 1995 J
Happy Thanksgiving Americans! And Happy Thursday Everyone Else!

Name of the Week: Walker
Gender: Boy
Meaning: One who walks on wool
Origin: English
Rank: 411
Other names that go with the name: Bennett, Madeline,
Felicity and Jude
My opinion: I am a pretty constantly in love with occupation names and this
one is no exception. It has a really modern feel, but is relatively unknown.
YOUR opinion: Leave it in the comments!

my favorite names!
I’d been putting off this blog post for a long time
as every time I post about my favorite names, I seem to totally go off them and
redo my whole list. But, my top names have held that spot for about a month now
and lately I’m more in love with ‘em each day, so I thought this week it was
time to face the risk and tell you a little about my top combos!
Girls
Claire Alison –
Claire is my nana’s name and my own middle name and is a name I’ve always known
I’d use. Recently, I’ve just been loving it too much to put it in the middle
name spot. Alison honors one of my best friends (Alyssa) and is long enough
that I think it deals with the weird flow issues that can come with a one
syllable first. Claire is French in origin, ranked at 45 and means clear,
bright and famous. Alison is also French in origin and a diminutive of Alice.
It is ranked at 273 and means noble and kind.
Orla Paige –
Orla is a new love of mine. I absolutely adore the sound and its meaning-
golden princess. Paige is another of my best friend’s names and although I’d
debated using it as a middle for a boy, I think the more common name and
spunkiness of a unisex name pairs really well with Orla. Orla is Irish in origin and is not on the top
1000. Paige is English, meaning one who is a servant and is ranked 105.
Ruby Elizabeth –
Ruby is a family name for me and one of my all time favorites. My great great
grandma was named Ruby and recently my cousin used it for her daughter too. I’d
not liked Elizabeth until a few years ago, but have since fallen in love with
it. I think it can honor my mom as her name (Bessie) is a diminutive of Elizabeth.
Ruby is English in origin and means red stone. It is ranked 106. Elizabeth is
Greek in origin and means my god is abundant. It is ranked at 10.
Boys
Hunter Douglas –
As
most of you know, Hunter is my all time favorite name ever and there aren’t enough
fabulous things I could say about it. Douglas is my father’s name and I can’t
imagine not using it as a middle. I’d been concerned about Hunter Douglas being
a windows and blinds company, but I think the flow is so perfect I’ve decided I
just have to get over it. Hunter is of English origin, meaning one who is a
hunter and ranked at 45. Douglas is of Scottish origin, meaning dark river and
ranked at 572.
Nolan Isaac – Nolan
is a newer love of mine- I’ve been really on the Irish names train lately!
Despite its popularity, it’s one I’ve rarely heard. I think it’s super classic
and underrated. Isaac is my brother’s middle name and my uncle’s name and is
another one I’ve always wanted to use for family reasons. Nolan means noble and
famous and is ranked at 88 and Isaac is of Hebrew origin meaning he laughs and
ranked 30.
Jacob Sullivan –
Jacob
is one I go back and forth on. Although popularity doesn’t bother me, Jacob has
been so popular for so long I’ve been scared on and off that it’s played out.
That said, there has to be a reason that so many parents have loved Jacob
enough for it to be top 10 status for 20 years and number one status for 14.
Sullivan is my last name. I’ve flirted with the idea of keeping my last name or
hyphenating it were I to get married which is the only reason Sullivan is in
the third middle name slot instead of the first. Jacob is from Hebrew, ranks
first and means holder of the heel. Sullivan is from Irish origins, means
little dark eye and is ranked 490.
Is anyone else like me in that their
top combos change so quickly they can barely keep track of it all? If so, are
there any names that seem to hang on through all the changes? Leave a comment
telling me some of your favorite combos or names and have a wicked weekend!

Then when once you have the number, for every child, roll again, if you get an
odd, you have a son, if you get an even, you have a daughter. Easy enough right?

Secret Life of the American Teenager Names!
Hey guys! Happy Monday!
So, this show was a huge guilty pleasure for me back in 2008 when it first came out. I watched the first 3 seasons when they first aired, but missed seasons 4 & 5 (lost interest, mainly). I started watching it again on Netflix and have fallen in love with it all over again.
Listed below are the names of the characters, names of the actors, which name I prefer, and which name I think better suits the person. I have also provided pictures!
Enjoy!
